class levels
AT DHU, YOUR EXPERIENCE MATTERS.
WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON OFFERING CLASSES THAT TRULY MATCH YOUR LEVEL,
BECAUSE YOUR JOURNEY, CONFIDENCE AND SAFETY ARE OUR PRIORITIES.
We know how disheartening it can be to try something new - booking a “beginner” class, only to arrive and feel completely out of your depth, because it isn’t truly beginner. We honor where you’re at - meeting you at your level, to help you build skills safely, whilst growing your confidence from the very first class.
-
We recommend starting here in every style, even if you’ve danced elsewhere—it’s your chance to grow from the foundation up.
For students with little to no dance experience, this level is designed to build your confidence from the ground up. Whether it’s your very first class or you’ve had a taste and want to refine your basics, this is where your journey begins. -
This level is for advanced beginners and emerging intermediate dancers. You’ll need some prior experience—at least a year in the style or similar movement training. Here, you’ll begin exploring more technique, musicality, and choreography without the constant repetition of the basics. A great next step to build range, confidence, and consistency.
-
This level is for experienced dancers only. It assumes a high level of skill, body awareness, and performance ability. Choreography is fast-paced and challenging, and the class is not slowed down for breakdowns. Best suited for dancers who train regularly.
-
Offered as a short course or on an ad hoc basis, this level is designed to equip you with everything you need to confidently jump into class choreography. Expect to cover foundational technique, key terminology, movement mechanics, and more—perfect for those new to dance or wanting a solid reset
“progress looks different for everyone.”
our level philosophy
We understand that learning dance isn’t one-size-fits-all. Progress isn’t a straight line – some dancers might take 30, 50 or. more beginner classes, while others feel ready to move up sooner.
In our beginner classes, you might be dancing next to someone at their very first lesson or someone who’s been coming for months, and that’s perfectly okay. Everyone’s dance journey is different, and we celebrate that.
Our studio is a non-judgmental, supportive space, so you can grow your skills and confidence at whatever pace feels right for you.
If you feel you are the most experienced person in class, or you’re no longer feeling challenged, it’s a sign to try another style or level up and grow!
